Report to Provincial Convention July 2009
Diocesan President: Monique Ingram

Our Lady of Good Counsel is always honoured in a special way:  by having a mass and on the 26th of April.
Election year we have the affirmation of new officers.  Another Mother that is celebrated in a special is none other than our very own mother on Mother's Day, a special day to remember, honour and celebrate the number one person in our life.  We sell the Mother's Day roses, and this money is given to the Ladies'' Mission.

This year we were very happy to bring back the "baby bottle project" to which we had a tremendous response.  On Mother's Day we offer to every family member, through our diocese, a baby bottle asking them to put their loose change, and bring the bottle back on Father's Day.  To our amazement Alexandria/Cornwall has collected the super amount of $6,200.00.  This money will be divided between Birth-rite and Pro-Life.  What a wonderful way of helping a person in an unfortunate predicament.

The end of May was time for our Annual Diocesan Convention.   It was a very uplifting and fun day having to use a "fruit" that best describe your work in the Catholic Women's League and also in reference to our theme "Women of Peace and Hope".  We received a very good evaluation from our Provincial Representative, Carmel Rumleskie.  Thank you, Carmel for your visit and support.

Another big project in the works is the "Outreach Project" scheduled for early fall.  We will be focussing on "Elder Abuse".   The day will be filled with work shops,  speakers, enlightening us on various aspects of what to know about "elder abuse".   Lawyers, nurses, priests, and care given to our elders, are but a few of the subjects that will be covered for this project.

Without a doubt, we can say that our Diocese has been very active and productive, and we asked that our Lady of Good Counsel continue to guide us as we continue our work for God and Canada.

Annual Report 2008
Alexandria Cornwall Diocesan Council
President: Monique Ingram            Spiritual Advisor: Fr. Kevin Maloney

The spiritual aspect of our diocese is very dear to everyone’s heart.  Members were assisting at morning mass preceded by the daily rosaries.  Our shut-ins are not forgotten as many of our members made a point of visiting them.  We also gave gifts to all babies being baptized.  Students receiving communion were also acknowledged with a gift and for confirmation also.

The care and health of our elders was very much a subject that touched the heart of many.  So we had guest speakers come and educate us on such a difficult situation for many.  It was also mentioned to keep healthy to prevent cancer or other serious illnesses.  We also had the young people in mind by having Christmas in July; a project that was well received by all.  We collected new backpacks and school supplies in order to help the poor families who could not afford these items to start school.  The baby bottles were by far the best ones yet.  On Mother’s day we gave each parishjioner a baby bottle and asked them to return it by Father’s Day filled with small change.  The response was enormous and we divided the money collected between Pro-Life and Birthright.

The White Ribbon campaign was well received by everyone.  We sent petitions to Governor General, protesting against giving Dr Morgentaler the Order of Canada.
Any activities of the Catholic Women’s League were well advertised in our church bulletin, our local newspaper, on the radio and posters.  Our historian has been busy keeping the story of our diocesan C.W.L. in albums with many pictures and a scrapbook containing the newspaper clippings and any important write-ups regarding the league.

There have been many activities that our members have been active in: ushering at Sunday masses, readers, Eucharistic ministers, gifted singers have joined the choir, preparing our spring tea and the fall luncheon.

We can say that our diocese has been a very active and productive one and we asked our Lady of Good Counsel that she would guide us so we can continue our work for God and Canada.
