For all councils in Ottawa, spiritual development was a key activity.  They arranged for mass and spiritual reading before all meetings.  Members also participated in the rosary and Stations of the Cross.  Councils offered prayers for deceased members at funeral homes and formed honour guards at funeral masses.  One council continues to contribute countless hours to Cor Jesu Chapel of Perpetual Adoration as coordinators and group captains.

Leadership development remains a high priority in our diocese.  Our training day held in March was delivered by Shari Guinta, provincial president-elect and chair of organization and Carmel Rumleskie, 1st vice president and community life chair.  Councils continue to used the “Leading the League training manual” to deliver training sessions on the structure of the League.

Our council celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel in April.  A mass was celebrated by the host council’s parish priest.  At that mass, service pins were presented to members and they were congratulated for their many years of service.  That mass was also dedicated to the deceased members we lost during the year.

Our archdiocesan 85th annual convention was held at St. Maurice council in May.  Shirley George, the provincial representative celebrated with us.  The business session was very informative and it was enjoyed by all.

Diocesan executive met for our fall pot luck lunch and general executive meeting in September.  In November our diocese came together again for our Advent day of retreat.  It gave us time to be together to pray and to be spiritually uplifted.  The day was very uplifting.

The reports of our councils in the diocese documented the generous gifts of time, talent, energy and financial support to parishes by having fund raising events to help with church renovations and the purchase of altar lines.  One council led the annual pairsh Christmas food drive.  They also build a relationship with the community in the parish by hosting a luncheon for seniors as well as a harvest supper.

Our theme Love One Another with Compassion and Understanding played an important part in our diocese as we worked together to accomplished the task at hand.
