Members:   3410                                          Life Members:  7
Councils:   27

As it is,  these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.
                                1Corinthians 13:13

In January more that 130 women, from as far west as Kenora and east as Schreiber came together in spiritual retreat.  The morning session facilitated by Msgr. Stilla was entitled “Receive the Gospel of Christ, Oh Women of Grace”.   It was followed by a lunch break which led into “Trying to be Mary in a Martha World” facilitated by Shari Guinta, Provincial President-elect.  The day closed with a candle light service in the church.

The 55th annual diocesan convention was hosted by St. Peter and St. Dominic parishes in Thunder Bay.  Interactive sessions included “Grace the Power of One”, “Experiencing Grace through Mary’s intervention”, “Grace: Significance out of the insignificant” and an informative workshop facilitated by Shari Guinta, Provincial representative, affirming the need for on-going education.  Reaching out to a small, remote council in Balmertown/Red Lake by visiting there demonstrated significance out of the insignificant when their membership increased 37%.

In attendance at the national convention in Winnipeg were 41 women and the diocesan Spiritual Advisor.  The group journeyed together, meeting for marooning prayer and early evening sharing of each day’s experience.  A presentation during convention set the stage for a September spiritual retreat day, “Come Women of Peach and Hope”, facilitated by the Spiritual Advisor and the diocesan president with more that 100 women attending once again.

The League development day in October included business, mass and spiritual program, as well as 6 workshops:  resolutions, Catholic Missions in Canada 100th anniversary, election discernment and prayer service, personal reflection on St. Paul, copyrights and Buy-A-Net for the eradication of malaria.

The Pro-Life conference hosted by Right to Life and Life Support in Thunder Bay in December was provided financial support by the diocesan executive and parish councils.  Members of the executive and individual members were also in attendance.  Life chain and Prayers for the Unborn in May also included the League’s presence to illustrated support for Pro-Life causes.

All of these activities exemplified the objects of the League and the diocesan theme:  “Love One Another:  Reveal Grace”.
